Biography
Olga Adam's art project, "All the Money in the World," focused on the idea that money without image is not money, examining the power of art to influence the world, and the idea that this concept is now fundamentally changing.
We started to think of the numbers displayed on the banking mobile app screen as cents, and calculations are made by reading QR codes and barcodes. The artist decided to follow these changes.
In some works, watermarks from the currencies of different countries around the world became art objects. From a historical perspective, and the artist has a second education in history, the image of Alexander the Great was first placed on coins when there was a political need – people in the empire had to learn what a strong and willful ruler looked like, so money fulfilled an economic role as well as a role in political public relations and mass media. It's not surprising, but the role of money in history has changed over time.
It's even more interesting to consider what will happen to this role in the future, because under the conditions of market globalization, they no longer play a political role. The project presents both antique imagery on currency and modern QR codes, pixels, etc.
