Biography
Semih Balcıoğlu was born in Istanbul in 1928. He completed his secondary education at the Private Işık High School; and graduated from the Graphic Arts Department of the Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts in 1951. In 1969, he founded the Cartoonists Association with two friends and served as its president for two terms. Between 1973 and 1979, he served as the General President of the Turkish Journalists' Union; and worked for numerous magazines and newspapers. In 1984, he worked at the Çamlıca Art House, and in 2004 at the printmaking workshop of the Istanbul Graphic Arts Museum. He passed away in 2006.
