Biography
He was born in Tosya district of Kastamonu province. He completed his primary and secondary education at Ankara Hasanoğlan Atatürk Primary Teacher Training High School. He graduated from Gazi University, Gazi Faculty of Education, Department of Painting. He worked as a teacher in Çankırı and Ankara for a while. He completed his master's degree in painting at Gazi Faculty of Education and his proficiency in art at Selçuk University Social Sciences Institute. In 1990, he participated in the establishment of the Painting Department at Atatürk University Kazım Karabelik Faculty of Education. In 1994, he was appointed as an Assistant Professor in the Painting Department of SDU Burdur Faculty of Education. He participated in the establishment of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Süleyman Demirel University. In the 1994-1995 academic year, he was appointed as a Faculty Member in this Faculty. He served as the Head of the Traditional Turkish Handicrafts Department and Deputy Dean of the Faculty. In 1996, he was appointed as the Head of the Graphic Design Department. He continued in this position until 2002. He currently continues his duties as a Faculty Member in the same department. A member of the Turkish Association of Fine Arts Owners (GESAM), the artist has held numerous solo exhibitions both in Turkey and abroad, and participated in many group exhibitions. His works are included in official and private collections in Turkey and abroad (Russia, Kazakhstan, Tatarstan, Japan, the United Arab Emirates, Canada, Germany, the USA, and Finland). He has written series of articles for newspapers and magazines, and appeared on TV and radio programs in the fields of Turkish painting, Western abstract art, and traditional Turkish handicrafts. He has conducted workshops, conducted extensive research, and presented international papers and articles on Turkish Ebru art. Closely interested in ceramics, he has combined ceramics and Ebru art, introducing Ebru ceramics as a new art interpretation on international platforms. He has a book ready for publication on Turkish Ebru art and its challenges. Producing works in various fields, his oil paintings are Surrealist, in the style of Salvador Dali. Although his chosen subjects are based on dream photographs, he presents messages through real-life snapshots of society. He takes colors and forms from the visible world and, with a surrealist approach, transfers them into art in an unreal way. In this respect, his works contain both natural and non-natural images. In his works, while creating composition, he aims to form, and within this formation, to bring out the form within color, again with colors. In doing all this, he aims for psychological empathy between the artwork, the artist, and the viewer. In his watercolor works, he depicts natural images with realistic images using the wash technique, seeking soft backgrounds; while doing this, he looks at the perspective of the drawings within atmospheres. In his marbling works, he reflects a harmony related to mathematical and physical functions with complete discipline, confirming Aristotle's theory that "There is nothing in the universe without order and regularity. The universe itself is order." He tries to capture the fairytale dance of the paints on the gum arabic; the surrealist expression in his oil paintings, the abstract, tachist understanding, the harmony of colors in marbling, and various images. He experiments with similar styles on other different materials, composing similar stylistic forms in his marbled glass works. Furthermore, by transferring marbling to ceramics, a traditional Turkish decorative art form, he has brought a different interpretation to this branch, presenting marbled ceramics as a unique element within Turkish art.
